Teach One to Lead One® Program Activities

Teach One to Lead One® session activities are designed to create an environment for Volunteer Mentors to connect with youth.

Mentoring
Mentors play a critical role in the effectiveness of Teach One to Lead One®. Remember that the mentors are in the classroom to create positive healthy relationships with the students.

Role Playing
Role-playing (or skits) gives the unique opportunity for students to “try on” Universal Principles before they leave the classroom

Games
Engaging activities designed to reinforce meaning of Universal principles and engage Mentors and students.

Story Telling
Stories are a key part of the Teach One to Lead One® curriculum. Many lessons include stories because they bring life to Universal Principles.

Video Clips
Video clips are presented to illustrate universal principles.

Student Field guides
Student field guides provide an opportunity for students to journal their understanding of the universal principle discussed during that session and how they can apply that principle to their life.

Small/Large Group Discussions
Opportunity for mentors to guide discussions where students can openly share their thoughts, feelings, ideas, and plans for their lives. It is also a great opportunity for strong mentoring relationships to be developed with quieter students who seldom raise their hand or speak in front of their peers. It is also a perfect setting for encouraging students to live the principles taught during each of the Teach One to Lead One® sessions.

In-service Learning Activity (Community Service Project)
Students are given the opportunity to give back to their community by performing a service project which allows them to put into practice the principles they have learned in the Teach One to Lead One® program.

Teach One to Lead One® Graduation
Students are recognized for their commitment and completion of the program at a formal graduation ceremony where they receive graduation certificates and letters recognizing their community service.
